Sudowrite isn’t just for writing traditional stories! It can also be very useful in roleplaying games, where story is a big part of a good experience. Here are some of the best ways to use Sudowrite to enhance your game.

Brainstorm loot, NPCs, or locations

The brainstorm feature is great at coming up with exciting magic weapons, quirky clues, or unconventional items that diversify your adventuring. In general, Sudowrite will create more unique and narratively interesting items than a random roll table, and you can customize the kind of items by controlling context.

1. Click Something else

1. Fill in the form with examples and context. This is the best way to shape the kind of results you get back. For example, if you wants stats and prices for your items, include that in your examples. If you want wacky items, give it wacky examples, etc.

1. Generate ideas and thumbs up the ones you like. Sudowrite will save them for later, and automatically generate more ideas similar to the ones that you thumbs up. Click refresh to get another fresh set.

Describe monsters, places, items, etc

Vivid descriptions of places, enemies, and NPCs can make a huge difference for making your world feel real to players. The describe button provides just that.

1. Type in a basic description of what it is you need help describing, then highlight it and click Describe

1. A stack of sensory details will pop up on the right. Favorite the best ones, or click Insert to pop them over to your document.

1. If you feel like the description is in the wrong tone for your world, you can use rewrite to cast it into a different flavor of prose.
   1. Select the text you want to rewrite
   2. Choose “Custom”
   3. Type in the type of tone you want like “the style of J.R.R. Tolkien”

Worldbuilding

Creating a backlog of lore can help a campaign can make a world feel like it has a rich history and create a better sense of immersion for players. It can take a long time to set up and writer’s block is your enemy here. Wormhole is a great way to get some ideas quickly to work with.

1. Type in a seed for what you already know about the world

1. Click Write to get a bunch of ideas for your world

Generate NPCs

Nothing makes a town feel alive more than living breathing characters whose lives seem to go on outside of the character’s adventures. Sudowrite has a “Characters” Panel under “Story Tools” Which is perfect for this.
